Sublingual Immunotherapy
Sublingual immunotherapy (SLIT) is a form of immunotherapy that involves putting drops of allergen extracts under the tongue. This is often referred to as “allergy drops,” and it is an alternative to allergy shots.
SLIT can be delivered one of two ways: drops (or tablets) of allergen extract are placed under the tongue and is administered once daily for a designated time frame. Most patients are able to self-administer SLIT at home.
